Re: Is this still being worked on?

If someone who isn't as concerned about performance as I was wants to take over the Scala port -- I just realized that there are some nice opportunities there to take advantage of a more functional programming style -- and with recent optimizations in JVM's, the performance might even not be that mu...

New port to a new language (Slang) in progress

Hi, I used to work on the Scala port of Box2D, but at some point I got a bit disappointed with game programming on the JVM and started working on my own language -- Slang ( http://villane.wordpress.com/slang/ ) The goal of the language is to be as fast as C (I hope), support a mix of object oriented...

Re: Is this still being worked on?

Sorry guys, I am no longer working on the Scala port. If anyone wants to take over the project, just fork it on github -- https://github.com/Villane/scalabox2d/ :) At least I am not making any long term plans for it -- I may take it up again one day if I feel like it, but don't have plans to keep ma...

Re: Is this still being worked on?

Update: as you've probably noticed, it's been way more than a month and no news. I suffered a hard disk crash and after I got the data restored, I didn't have as much time any more :( I hope I will find time to continue this, but I'm not sure when. In other news, I started working on my own programm...

Re: Is this still being worked on?

Quick update: I started working on it again, but it seems the C++ Box2D has changed so much that in order to not miss anything, I'm doing a full port again. Not quite from scratch, I'm copying classes from the old code, but this time I'm porting from the bottom-up, so I'll have compiling code all th...

Re: Is this still being worked on?

Hi! I haven't had any time to work on it, but when I find time (no idea when exactly, might be December) I'll finish porting it to Scala 2.8, then we'll see what happens next. Besides the upgrade in Scala version, I want to bring it up to date with the latest Box2D release. One thing that has gained...

Update to Scala 2.8 in progress

I started updating ScalaBox2D to Scala 2.8, and 2.7.x support will unfortunately be dropped, simply because they are not compatible and I don't have time to maintain two different branches. Scala 2.8 is stable enough for production use (since Beta1 at least) and it makes sense to me to move to that ...

How to go about updating ports to 2.1?

Hi! I've been away from the forums for a while, but I started updating the Scala port to Scala 2.8 and I also want to bring it up to date with 2.1 of Box2D. Is there a good overview of the changes that have gone into it since 2.0.1? I have already applied some of them earlier (fixtures), but I'm not...

Re: Optimizing the vector math

Hi. I haven't worked on ScalaBox2D for a while, but I want to return to it in the beginning of the new year. However, I think I'm going to put this particular optimization work aside for a while, for two reasons. The first is that updating the vector library is going to become difficult if I also ha...

Re: Experimental Scala port

Has the dynamic trees broadphase been ported? Not yet. This is probably my OpenCL ignorance shining through, but my main question is: how tiny does each computation have to be in order to get a benefit from pushing (many copies of) it through that pipeline? I've always been under the impression tha...
