Postby Erin Catto » Mon Sep 10, 2007 11:21 pm

Box2D version 1.0.0 has been released. This version adds many features over the previous version that I developed for the GDC.

Get it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/box2d

Go see the list of features here: http://www.box2d.org/features.html

If you are looking for the "Lite" version please head over to http://www.gphysics.com/downloads

Thankyou!
Very generous releasing such a powerful engine for free!

Nice! I'm going to be keeping an up-to-date port of this project in the D programming language, just so you know.

My name is Petri Purho and I've created couple of small games with the previous versions of Box2D. Probably the most recognized of those games is Crayon Physics.

I'm really thankful for creating such a great 2D physics engine. Those games I've created would not have seen the light of the day with out Box2D. So I was really excited when I read that you're continuing the development of Box2D. I'd love to help with the development, but I don't know if my understanding of physics is high enough for me to do any constructive work. Maybe the best way for me to contribute would be to create an example game and release the source code for it. Unfortunately I'm "booked" for the next two months, so the earliest I could get this game out would be December. Let me know what you think.

Hi Petri,

Yes, I'm aware of Crayon Physics and your other games. Great stuff!

That would be great to include a sample game with Box2D. This would really help hobbiests get rolling.

Some other ways people can contribute is to give me feedback about bugs, code issues, web site issues, documentation errors, and feature requests. I try to test my code well, but it is hard to test all cases.

Another contribution I'm looking for are Linux/Mac build files, since I do not run on those platforms.

Erin your library is 100% portable without change a line, with g++ compiles perfectly on linux and GP32 SDK (Devkitpro), so build files are not really needed as long as you keep this high standard level
