Did you try running the same scene in a normal web-browser on the same device? Is there a significant difference in performance?

There is no way I can do that because the files are in a Test Server and the app viewer communicates to it. It's not locally hosted.

I'm talking about this example: http://www.smartjava.org/examples/deviceorientation/
Can't you just go to that page with the browser in your phone?

If you take the source from that and modify it to have 30 shapes instead of 100, then you can see how fast it runs outside of the app framework.

Tell you what, I will do it for you... just go here with the regular web browser of the phone and see what performance you get:

If it's the same speed as when running inside the app container, then you are simply limited by CPU.
If it's faster than the app container, then the app container is causing some slowdown. Either way, I don't think it's a Box2D problem.
