Hidden Testbed Features

Here's the place to get help and discuss features. The focus is on the C++ version, but generic questions are welcome.

Hidden Testbed Features

Postby Erin Catto » Thu Sep 20, 2007 12:27 am

Some test bed commands are:
- 'r' to reset the current test
- SPACE to launch a bomb
- arrow keys to pan
- 'a' and 'z' to zoom in/out
- use the mouse to click and drag objects

I found 'space', 'r' and the mouse dragging myself, panning and zooming are cool though :D

I better watch this thread for other eastereggs, because I'm going to re-use the Box2D Testbed in 3D ;-)

The panning seems backwards. Hitting right should move the "camera" right. Oh, and don't forget the Home key to reset the view.

I touched up my copy of the testbed's Main.cpp to add right mouse button dragging to move the camera and mouse wheel zoom control. I find it pretty helpful, so if anyone wants to use this, go right ahead, the altered file is attached below (from most recent SVN). For the mouse wheel to be enabled you need to modify freeglut->GL->glut.h so it includes freeglut.h instead of freeglut_std.h (the mouse wheel handler is an extension of glut). Also, it appears that mouse wheel support is spotty under X and there's no workaround at the moment, so if you're running that you can try, but no guarantees. Shouldn't break the compile, but the wheel just might not do anything.

The 'x' key zooms in for me, not the 'a' key.

Thanks for sharing these. These will be really useful and can save a lot of time. Will be keeping an eye on this thread. Just wondering, x is the zoom key for me as well, does this mean that these commands vary for different users? Perhaps there is an option to customize these commands? Thanks again though.
