I am using Jbox2d 2.0.1 (released in 2008) for my Chemistry Simulation project. It runs ok on my Mac OS 10.6 with JVM 1.5. But when I update to JVM 1.6, the performance of Jbox2d is bad, the simulation is not running smoothly, splash screen, and it becomes worse after 2 minutes. I updated Jbox2d 2.1.2 (released in July 2011). The problem is still the same/

My prediction for this is: Jbox2d is not compatible to JVM 1.6 (but JVM 1.5), there is memory-leaking. Do anyone know how to fix this?
As the simulations is going to published to high-school students and teachers, we can not ask them do downgrade JVM 1.6 to 1.5. This does not make sense.

Please help.

Make sure you have the latest version of the 1.6 JDK for Mac. I believe there was a bad performance bug in it when it first came out for the Mac (Apple had their own JVM implementation back then).

Here is a NetBeans bug (http://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=82943) that sounds similar, but it was marked closed in mid-2008.

Other than I'm not sure I can help without more info. I am running it fine in 1.6 on Windows, so I don't have anything to profile.
